Reverend Cleveland is the President/CEO and co-founder of the Welfare Reform Liaison Project, Inc.
(WRLP) in Greensboro, NC, which began in 1997. In this capacity, he has filled many roles: creating the
vision and path that has enabled the agency to grow into a national model; developing and
implementing a business plan that enabled WRLP to become financially stable through multiple
funding options and sources; tracking outcomes and assessing program effectiveness; and maintaining
a broad range of national partnerships.  Through innovative ideas, such as the Faith Based
Entrepreneurial Think Tank, Rev. Cleveland stimulates thought and dialogue to address community’s
concerns.

He is a graduate of a number of leadership programs, including the Harvard Divinity School’s Summer
Leadership Institute, The Center for Creative Leadership’s Leadership Development Program and
Leadership Greensboro.  He received his Masters in Divinity (cum laude) from the Hood Theological
Seminary in 1997. He received a B.S. in management and a minor in finance, economics and computer
science from the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg in 1984.

Rev. Cleveland has wide-ranging teaching experiences including: an Adjunct Professorship with Duke
University’s Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management; Instructor with North Carolina A & T State
University’s Minority Enterprise Training and Development Program, and Instructor with UNCG in
Department of Social Work and School of Human Environmental Sciences.  He is a nationally certified
Peer to Peer Trainer in Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA).

He also has an extensive resume of professional and volunteer services ranging from board leadership
roles to city government work.  He has served in Board leadership capacities for agencies such as
Joseph’s House and Malachi House.  He has participant in the Triad Leadership Institute and serves as
a member of the Action Greensboro II Core Committee, and United Way of Greater Greensboro’s
Thriving at Three Initiative Committee.  He is currently active as Chair of the Quick Jobs Advisory
Committee for Guilford Technical Community College and serves on the Finance Committee and
Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Greensboro
